PROJECT INTRODUCTION

The JB Marks Local Municipality (proponent) proposes to establish a township at Grimbeek Park on the remaining extent of portion 46 and portion 58 & 59 of the farm Elandsheuvel 436 IQ in the Grimbeek Park Area, within the jurisdiction of JB Marks Local Municipality, North-West province. The JB Marks Local Municipality is a Category B municipality situated within the Dr Kenneth Kaunda District in the North West Province. The Municipality is the largest by land mass within the district making up almost half its geographical area. The proposed township establishment covers a surface area of 85,2015 ha in extent. The proposed project is required to obtain an Environmental Authorisation (EA) prior commencement in terms of National Environmental Management Act, (Act no 107 of 1998) and Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Regulations of 2014 as amended in 2022. As such the Housing Development Agency – North West Provine on behalf of JB Marks Local Municipality has appointed Vhuluvhi Group (Pty) Ltd as an independent Environmental Assessment Practitioner (EAP) to undertake the EIA Process.

In terms of the EIA regulations of 2014 (as amended), activities associated with the proposed project are listed under Listing Notice 1 (GN R327) which requires a BA process to be undertaken. As such, a BA Process is been followed.
